IPL Chairman: UAE Shift Rumors Dismissed Amid Election Speculation

Amid swirling rumors suggesting a potential shift of the IPL to the UAE due to upcoming general elections in India, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal clarified the league’s stance.

“There is no plan to shift the IPL anywhere. We will soon unveil the remaining fixture,” Dhumal asserted to PTI.

Speculation had mounted due to India’s general elections scheduled between April 19 to June 1. Reports circulating on social media hinted at players being instructed to deposit their passports with respective franchises.

However, echoing Dhumal’s statement, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah reiterated the intention to conduct the full tournament in India, reminiscent of the 2019 edition held during the previous Lok Sabha election.

With the schedule for the initial two weeks already released, anticipation builds as defending champions Chennai Super Kings gear up to face Royal Challengers Bangalore at home on March 22.
